DAY 1: Ciutat Vella: Born Quarter

Barcelona´s Tour

Ciutat Vella meaning in English: Old City and refers to the oldest neighborhoods, it is considered as the centre of the city.

Despite humble beginnings as a settlement built on top of a medieval area of jousts and celebrations El Born has grown into being one of the most fashionable places in the city. In Born's early days it was home to the textile guilds of Barcelona. There is also a beautiful cathedral: Santa María del Mar, which you can wander around in, many of the buildings date from late Medieval times, Mercat del Born, constructed with iron, currently, the market covers extensive ruins of the medieval city.

We are quite close to the Parc Ciutadella which is a relaxing place to sit in the afternoon, photograph the Arc de Triomf and watch Cascada Monumental fountain. And In the evening we will do a night photography session.

DIA 2: Gothic Quarter

Barcelona´s Tour

Ciutat Vella is the centre of the city, on the other side of Les Rambles, is el Barri Gòtic. This neighborhood houses the Cathedral of Barcelona, la Generalitat (the Catalan government hall), l'Ajuntament (Barcelona city hall), Plaza Real a Spanish-style plaza and the exciting Boqueria market where we capture the barcelona´s chaotic energy.

The Gothic Quarter used to be the Roman village and thus has some remnants of its glorious past. The narrow, winding streets create quite a labyrinth and means that it may take a while to get your bearings. It has many peaceful squares (plaças) where we can relax and many restaurants and bars where we can enjoy spanish food.

At the top of Las Ramblas is Plaça Catalunya where we will grab our tripods to photograph the spectacular light, water & music spectacle at the Magic Fountain and to get fabulous viewpoints over the city and the fountain

DIA 3: From Gaudí to Glories

Barcelona´s Tour

Our third day in Barcelona will include exploring more of the city's neighborhoods, we will start at the Eixample quarter, where we will capture photogenic details and contrast in this beautiful modernist quarter: Casa Battló, Casa Milà and Sagrada Familia. We will incorporate different shooting styles, camera settings and accessories such as ND filters for slow shutter speeds in daylight photography and we will experiment with different ways to capture this amazing church as the setting sun hits the towers.

In the evening we will do a night photography session, capturing the Agbar Tower, a 38-story skyscraper / tower, the construction was inspired by the work of Antoni Gaudí reference to the bell towers of the Sagrada Familia. The tower has a facade of glass and steel with 4,500 luminous devices that can operate independently using LED technology that enables the nocturnal illumination.

DIA 4: Poblenou Quarter

Barcelona´s Tour

We will visit Poblenou. It is a popular place in the district Sant Marti of Barcelona. Until the Barcelona Olympics in 1992 this area was mostly factories and was known as the “Catalan Manchester”. Regarding types of apartments we are going to walk into a bit of everything, from totally gutted and renovate factory loft space, many old industrial chimneys which have been preserved, older buildings and factories to new constructed buildings.

Since 2001 Poblenou was involved in a transformation project, named @22 Barcelona, regenerating this neighborhood in a hi-tech business district known as Catalan Silicon Valley.

We will involve ourselves in this area capturing the urban transformation of Poblenou. This popular place offers us a contracts urban landscape between the modern and the industrial decline architecture. The mix of architecture and styled are so varied that offers us a multiple targets we can play with the decadence of old buildings, with the magnificent of new constructions; with the contrast and different points of views using the lines, angles provided by pedestrian streets or create meaning out of architecture and humans around us.

DIA 5: Barceloneta and Paseo Marítimo

Barcelona´s Tour

Fishermen were naturally the first to settle during the 18th century on the seafront land now known as Barceloneta. The beach is the main attraction, but at the end of the ride, there is a building with mirror facade, W Hotel is the long-awaited new five star hotel on Barcelona's coastline where will we photograph the sky reflected in the façade. We will start our journey along the coast of barcelona, we will photograph the hotel W, the Casino, Mafre Towers with palm trees and we will eat fish and try to photograph the sunset from the three chimneys.

Of course we will enjoy good food, rest in the beach bars, talk about photography and we will enjoy capturing the decisive moment, but in this occasion, on the beach.
